Preact Website Design Competition
To celebrate the release of Preact 11, we're hosting a design competition for the Preact website! The current design has served us well for the past years but a new release is a perfect opportunity to apply a new coat of paint and try out a new look. We'd love to involve the community in this process and are looking for contributions!
This competition will be purely design-focused, no code required. Be creative and express your ideas for what the Preact docs should look like for the next few years.
Prizes
To thank and compensate the best designs, we will giving out some prizes through our Open Collective:
- First place: $4000 USD & will likely be implemented as the new design for the Preact website
- Second place: $2500 USD
- Third place: $1500 USD
Four extra designs that we like and are particularly creative will receive $500 each.
Guidelines
Your designs should be full-page interactive views of the Preact website, including the home page, a documentation page, and any other pages you feel are relevant.
- The copy on the home page is up to you -- write about what makes Preact special to you and what you think others should know about it.
- For any docs pages, feel free to copy existing text as it will likely stay the same.
- These designs should be both desktop & mobile views.
Our branding (logo & primary color) will remain the same so please keep them in mind and integrate them into your designs.
Your designs should be web-hosted. We unfortunately won't be able to download and/or run projects locally so please make sure your work is accessible via a public URL.
- Figma, CodePen, and GitHub Pages are all good options for hosting your designs.
Don't feel tied to existing navigation or layout patterns, it's all up to be rethought and redesigned.
As with any site, please make sure your designs are accessible and inclusive. Keep color contrast, font sizes, and navigation in mind especially.
